The Ascot
We used Lowe & Simpson to develop our design concept for an impressive two flight curved stairway for our new Queen Anne style property in Ascot. They skilfully interpreted our design and produced a stunning staircase thanks to the efficient management of Dan Rafferty. The onsite installation team were true craftsmen that worked in a clean, timely and co-operative manner. The finished staircase is truly superb and is greatly admired by all that see it.

This client came to Lowe & Simpson knowing of our capabilities and sent through the architect's drawings, along with a concept sketch and reference to an existing staircase.
We went on to discuss various elements in detail with the client. One of our local surveyors then visited to take measurements and discuss the finer details.
We then went on to provide a plan and 3D drawings for the client to comment. They wanted more curved detail to the bottom of the stairs, making it more open to the front door which he discussed with the technical team and was then sent a revised drawing and quotation, which was approved.
Manufacture of a bespoke staircase like this takes a little time. We start by drawing the staircase out full scale on the factory floor. Whilst that’s being done, the raw timber is ordered and then processed in the machine shop. The joiners will prepare curved formas for the stringers and handrail, the handrail will be hand carved. We then assemble the stairs in the factory to ensure everything is perfect then unassembled for delivery to site. The fitting team meet the wagon on site to offload and then spend approximately 2 weeks fitting the stairs. It’s then for the decorator’s and carpet fitter to do their bit and put the finishing touches to the new staircase.
