The Directors of Lowe & Simpson understand that product design, materials sourcing, day-to-day operations, the in-service performance and the transportation of the Company’s products and personnel can impact both directly and indirectly on the environment in terms of waste, pollution and energy consumption. Our aim is to protect and where possible to improve the environment by undertaking best practice wherever and whenever possible.
Lowe & Simpson maintains an environmental management system to the ethos of ISO 14001 and supports environmental initiatives including recycling.
Environmental legislation is complied with as a minimum standard and the company embeds environmental considerations into its business practices and decisions.
This includes:
• Developing and putting into place targets for the monitoring and measurement of continuous improvement in environmental performance.
• Full Compliance with all legal requirements, regulations and codes of practice.
• The prevention of pollution to land, air and water.
• Minimisation of energy and water consumption.
• Involvement of customers, suppliers and where possible subcontractors in environmental objectives and targets.
• Environmentally responsible purchasing.
• Development of a training programme for employees.
• Where possible improve the environmental efficiency of our transport and travel – directly and with suppliers.
• Develop and put in place targets to measure our continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Within Lowe & Simpson ALL employees are responsible and empowered to achieve the objectives of this policy. Effective implementation of the policy and procedures relies upon the wholehearted commitment of everyone in the company and the acceptance of and engagement with this is demanded and expected. The company offers an open door policy for all environmental concerns and undertakes to engage with employees who in turn:
1. Are obliged to co-operate with senior management in the implementation of this policy and its associated procedures to enable the company to comply with its legal duties and achieve best environmental practice.
2. Must take reasonable care of environmental resources that may be affected by their acts or omissions.
Employees will be consulted and expected to contribute to matters of environmental management and best practice for which reasonable resources will be made available to ensure good working practices are implemented.
A copy of this policy is given to all employees and appropriate training arranged to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities and are competent to carry out the tasks expected of them.
The Environmental Policy will be revised when necessary, particularly when significant changes occur. This policy will be reviewed annually and any significant changes brought to the attention of the relevant personnel.
